This is one of the youngest girls I have done a hip replacement in. Her right hip was replaced at the age of 13, followed by the left hip a year later. She is a blood cancer survivor who developed collapse of both hips due to the effects of chemotherapy — the same treatment that ultimately saved her life. She had ceramic bearings. Presently totally symptom free pursuing her higher studies.
Both hips had collapsed due to avascular necrosis secondary to chemotherapy. A tailored surgical plan was made to address the damage while considering her young age and medical history.
The patient responded well to both surgeries. She followed a structured rehabilitation protocol aimed at restoring mobility and function without complications.
She is now completely symptom-free and pursuing her higher studies. Her strength and determination are a true inspiration, having overcome cancer and regained full mobility.
