This 68 year old lady has a condition called protrusio where the socket becomes weak and protrudes into the pelvis. She was on a wheel chair for over a year with two caretakers to care for her. She needed very complex hip replacements which required a lot of planning. We had to bone graft the socket as well. The hip replacements have made her independent and painfree. Now she walks without support.
Due to the severe protrusio deformity, detailed planning was crucial. A custom approach involving bone grafting and complex hip replacement components was outlined to rebuild the damaged socket and restore alignment.
Post-surgery, the patient began rehabilitation. Over time, she regained strength and stability, and gradually began walking independently without support — a dramatic improvement from her preoperative state.
The patient is now pain-free and walks without any support. She has transitioned from complete dependence to full independence, significantly improving her quality of life.
